Overrated

Nahm @ the Metropolitan Hotel, Bangkok

David Thompson's Nahm @ the Halkin in London is the first & only Thai restaurant to be awarded a Michelin star in the UK & Ireland. Recently Thompson decided on something ambitious, relocating himself to open a new branch of Nahm in the food capital where even street food tastes divine.

The verdict: Thompson is not the only Michelin starred chef recently moved to Bangkok. Copenhagen's Henrik Yde-Andersen of Kiin Kiin (known for an avant-garde twist to Thai cooking) has also just opened Sra Bua @ the new Kempinski there. I only visited Nahm during my trip there a couple of months back, and that almost put me off Thai food altogether! The atmosphere was cosy, even though the seating plan (in the same spirit as his restaurant @ the Halkin) could have used more imagination, it was the food that I guiltily asked twice to be sent back to the kitchen (the customer rights I rarely exercise). All I knew was that my chicken's cause of death certainly wasn't manslaughter but an overdose of fish sauce!
