Overrated

St Pancras Spa @ St Pancras Renaissance Hotel
The verdict: Instead of the aromatic infusion & the zen-like calmness of a welcoming sanctuary, what you get when entering the new basement spa @ St Pancras hotel are the smell of cheap perfume & the stuffy, poorly ventilated atmosphere which makes you rethink your spa escape as the traffic-filled Euston Rd up above seems to provide better fresh air than here. Certainly very little of £150 million transformation of this 138 year-old station hotel was spent on the spa. It has, to be fair, good facilities & the Ottoman-style pool area is quite unique. But seeing is one thing, as experiencing it makes you realise how badly designed the place is. Amenities are extremely limited. The tempting & creative spa menu reads well & although the treatments are pretty good, the pushy (in selling their heavily fragranced products) & untrained receptionists will not fail to put you back in a bad mood all over again. You need a spa treatment, preferably elsewhere, to recover from an experience at this provincial service, badly lit with funky smell.... ummmm.... spa?! Never again!
